"E o mai!" Answer me! whisper
the soulful waters of Hawai`i. You are being called home.
Wai, water, so central to life and
living, was keenly appreciated by the ancient Hawaiians; their
word for wealth: waiwai. Rich in symbolism, wai has
deep cultural and spiritual significance, especially in song
and dance.
We liken the journey to that of water droplets
falling from the sky, then returning home to a warm and gentle
shimmering sea. With its varied hues and textures, this collection
of songs reflects that journey.
Water droplets seep into the ground, then burble
forth as fresh spring water. It wends its way past ancient pohaku,
alive with mana. Glistening and sparking, ka wai flows,
leaps, glides, rests, heals, and nourishes along the way. Many
paths lead home; some pass by ancient sites; others, modern
edifices.
It is our wish that you will return refreshed
in body and spirit. Upon your arrival home, answer back, "Eo!" Yes,
I am here!
